Who says straight hair has to be boring? The next time you're feeling a straight hairdo, follow our tips to add some oomph to your locks.
Straight hair can emphasize dry and damaged hair. In order to prepare your hair for a sleek and straight hairstyle, follow these tips to lock in moisture.
1. Heated tools can take a toll on your hair and many uses can leave you with split ends and breakage. It is important to use high-quality shampoo and conditioner in order to counteract the drying effects of hair dryers and straighteners. Lower quality shampoo actually strips your hair of moisture as it cleans. Our solution? Use salon products. 2. Always use a heat protection spray before using a heated tool on your hair. We recommend Chi 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protecting Spray for ultimate protection from heat.
After your hair is moisturized and ready to be styled, follow these steps for the gorgeous, straight hair you've always wanted.
1. Towel dry. This limits your hair's exposure to harsh heat.
2. Apply a heat protection product to avoid damaging your hair.
3. Blow dry gently. Keep the nose of the hair dryer a few inches away from hair. Use a brush to keep hair from tangling and follow the brush strokes with the hair dryer
4. Divide your hair into manageable layers with clips or hair ties.
5. Use a straightening iron to slowly go over your hair in sections, working your up from the bottom layer of
hair. When it comes to choosing a straightener, we prefer a 1-inch iron, which works especially well for fine hair. Also, remember that higher quality products are less damaging- we recommend a Chi straightener.
6. Use a serum to tame fly-away hairs at the scalp and hold the style. Serum is better for your hair than
